Adequacy of the proposal within the surrounding urban environment.

Student’s entrance and exit from the school will be through a big open space. The leaving of the children from the school is especially crowded, and while the parents talk, the children take the opportunity to play in the wide access square. The pedestrianization of Santo Tomás Street in the section that corresponds to the plot of the contest will create a safe and friendly route from the José Ortiz Avenue school bus stop to the access square, space prior to the entrance to the kindergarten wing and the elementary wing.

Architectural and artistic value, originality.

The value of our proposal relies in the fluid relationship of the different outdoor spaces of the school. The pedestrian street, the access square, the kindergarten, the large primary porch and its large playground, are always connected, and act as an intermediate space prior to the heated teaching spaces. On the upper level, the elementary classrooms, all oriented to the SOUTHEAST, overlook the large playground, and the workshops oriented to the north do the same towards the pedestrian access street Santo Tomás. The wide access corridor to the classrooms and workshops is illuminated with natural light, so not all spaces need artificial light throughout the day.

Rationality and sustainability for its materialization.

The geometry of the project is simple and rational. The fundamental spatial measures of the building come from the geometry of the classrooms, 6 x 8 meters, which translates into structural economics. Clear geometry converges on standardization, and standardization in constructive economics. They are two pads, compact, well oriented and illuminated, without structural boasts or superfluous spaces.

An urban corridor to the castle of Almansa

The city of Almansa always looks towards its castle, because in it is its genesis and its future. In the urban future of the city, the castle will not be just a symbol, or a monument to contemplate on the hill of the Eagle, static and timeless. But it must be conceived as a latent heart with its almond shape towards where all the natural lines of movement of the city are directed.

Thus, with this vision we project an urban corridor that is born at the northwest gates of the city and enters it until reaching the Puerta de Poniente of the castle. But until then, the sinuous urban corridor constructs new spaces for the city, spaces full of vegetation, sunny and friendly with the pedestrian. These three urban strategies are the conceptual basis of our project for the regeneration of the city of Almansa.


THREE URBAN REGENERATION STRATEGIES for the urban center of Almansa

Urban naturalization

From the beginning of Campos Street begins a lush linear garden of 350 meters in length, wide until it reaches the surroundings of the Duque de Alba school where it narrows to turn on Calle Federico García Lorca. Here the space becomes wider again, and we transform it into an elongated square where the Coliseum Cinema looms and extends along Duque de la Victoria Street. Here the corridor bifurcates into two branches that flow into Plaza Santa María, a beautiful funnel space that leads you to the foot of the Puerta de Poniente.

Friendly city with pedestrian

A fully accessible, continuous urban plan is proposed without any grading steps or steps or curbs. We project an urban space directed to the pedestrian, where the walkers flow without obstacles, the children play without danger and the elderly converse in the shade of the trees in a quiet street.

All the new squares and gardens are projected on the sunny sides of the streets. The trees, the benches, the children’s games and the terraces are arranged under the southern sun. On the other side, in shadow a sidewalk, and between these spaces the lane of vehicles that always circulate in one direction.

Our building is an urban fan that unfolds before the rectitude of the fabric of the city and reveals itself against the inert straight line. It is a kind movement, which closes and opens at the same time; closes the interior space of the block but opens to the sun and the wind. It is a gentle curve that goes to the sea, looking at the chimneys of the power station of the Besòs that are outlined on its intense blue.

The group of houses is grouped forming a curved linear block facing south with access by corridor on the north side. The block grows wide and transparent at its base and narrows as it reaches its peak.

In horizontal, the building opens like a fan to the south and the structure of laminated steel frames reproduces its linkage. And on each portico, a flat concrete slab acts as a country, the fabric that joins the skeleton of the fan.

Back to passive architectures is our obligation. When the space looks at the morning sun and opens to the fresh wind of Gregal, or when the space is built in darkness and protected from the west wind, then the space is dignified and honest. This is our building, a fan against air conditioning.

We tend toward the energy autonomy of our buildings with renewable sources, although we still depend on traditional energy networks. For the time being, we propose aerothermy as a source of air conditioning and photovoltaic solar energy that will cover 25% of self-consumption.




There are three spaces, two served and one server. TWO FLEXIBLE and one fixed. Two spaces that can be two, three or four. A space that is always the same, with dining room, kitchen and toilets. The three spaces are always interns.

The three spaces pass through to a large terrace. It is a generous outdoor space, fresh and in shade, essential in the Mediterranean climate.

And there is a multiple and flexible typology. Family housing, housing with office, shared housing, housing for large families, individual housing, housing workshop, … etc.

2018-Expansion of Burriana Cementery-Castellón-Spain.

1st PRIZE competition for the expansion of Burriana Cemetery (Castellón)


The urbanization project is built with few materials.
A concrete floor of different textures and drawings solves both pedestrian routes and the rest of the paths used for burials.


Alcorques landscaped strips run parallel to the streets. And sheets of water that will serve as well and irrigation for the gardens. A thick vegetal wall acts as an enclosure of the holy field in its eastern part, which, when it hits the road, will act as a sound barrier and at the same time form a background of greenery.


The vegetation consists of cypresses for the main street, palm trees for the pedestrian route and squares, and flower, shrub and climbing plants for the linear alcolques.


ModeloThe furniture consists of linear concrete benches located on the shaded side of the streets, and the lighting consists of recessed beacons on the main street and aerial beacons on the streets of niches. Two equipments are located. In the main access a cover shades the entrance and collects a space of reception and office. At the northern end, at the end of the main street, there is a chapel.

Your house has everything you want.

SSS_01_2017_Tu Casa_02When you arrive at your house, you park in a previous space. Nothing is shown yet, nor visitors nor passersby; a wall that protects you from the outside. Only you know what lies behind. Behind the wall, the patio in the shade of a pine leads you to the interior. And here, the space, warm and luminous, expands to the opposite end of the plot.

And from the patio your house is born. And it grows in three directions, in three concatenated and visually connected spaces, because you want a large house and at the same time adjusted to you.  SSS_01_2017_Tu Casa_04But before, your house has a working space that lives off the patio, which you use as a bedroom when your guests come to spend the night. They have their own bathroom and the privacy an inhabitant needs in a strange house. But above all it is a space for you. For your things.

And now it is. Your house grows first in horizontal, as continuity of the patio. You enter the dining space and to your right a crack of evening light lies on the kitchen bench. You also want an island where you can have breakfast or converse with your guests while you cook. And you will be able to make the kitchen independent since with this condition we have projected it. You can open, close, or filter views.

This first space links the other two, and so your house grows up and down fulfilling your desire for vertical spatial wealth.

If you go down a little, the house extends to the bottom of the garden. The living room first. There is a linear furniture under the double height that rotates next to the wall; here you will enjoy the cinema and your readings. Then a wide and deep porch where hangs a Paraguayan hammock for the summer siesta. After the garden with the barbecue and the oven you want, and in the background the sunny pool.

This succession of spaces are the ones that you will enjoy more in the company of friends and family. They will never forget you and you will always enjoy it.

And if you go up, something else, the diffused light from the north bathes the access space to the rooms and will even slip into the living room. As you wish, there is no corridor but a space of double height open to the clear view of a thick and high pine forest not far to the north, and two rooms with a window torn at ground level that turn to the garden. Yours is wide and at night you will see a horizon of clinking lights, and beyond the mountains.

This is your house, this is your world.

“This architectural competition is developed in the Valencian municipality of San Antonio de Benagéber, about 20 km from the city of Valencia.

The visual permeability that is generated from the access patio to the garden of the house endows the project with a space amplitude that has been highly valued by the client. At the same time, has taken advantage of the slight unevenness of the plot to generate different areas at different heights without losing the space continuity of the house. A double height bathed by diffuse northern light articulates this sequence of spaces and opens on the upper floor to the clear view of a thick and elevated pine forest to the north.”

eSe, or “S”

1st Prize for SSS in the contest “Manzana Verde” of Malaga to which the block BL 1.5 is granted.

The Jury has valued the solution of the project section as well as its modulation and its sincere reflection to the outside, considering very correct the typology of raised housing directed to young people that, despite its arrangement in three levels, offers a great versatility and capacity for transformation and adaptation to different and changing needs. The building could achieve high energy efficiency standards due to the layout of its homes and the southern orientation of the main façade.

“S” is a letter of the alphabet.

The letters A, B, C, D, E, F, K, .., were occupied by the typologization section of STROIKOM (Committee for State Construction) in 1929. Cells C, D, E, F and K, Were associated with corridors, and therefore to community spaces, commune houses, or transitional houses.

The “S” is also the letter of Scharoum who built -1929 Breslau-, a magnificent building that grouped small cells in semi-levels for single workers or couples without children, with a system of access by corridor, and a generous community space.

The “S” is not the letter of BaKema, which much later – 1959 – solved an incredible section of five semi-level served by a single corridor. Bakema was left in the way the communal spaces and for that reason its name does not have S.

The eSe proposal, never leaves the “S” alone, associates S with e. (eSe).

The belief that cells, grouped around a corridor would be able to solve all the blocks of the green apple has been the engine of our intervention. The belief that a block with corridor would associate the cells and allow the emptying of some of them to configure community spaces and urban windows seemed obvious.

The “S” cell is large, the “e” small one.

The “S” is formed by three planes at a semi-level of 3 x 12 m. The access plane is placed lateral to the other two planes in an intermediate semi-level, and with a height of plant and a half, it is destined to the main space of the house. The other two planes at 1.5 meters above or below the former house indistinctly bedrooms, play spaces or work.

The “S” is flexible, allowing diverse uses and spatial relationships.

The “e” is small. It is a unique space of a single level also of 3 x 12 m.

As for the urban space, paved areas are minimized, with the rest being resolved with mortar sand and trees of green shade.

1st PRIZE Alumed-Strong Contest 2017


1st Prize to SSS in the contest of ideas called by ALUMED-STRONG for design of SOCIAL HOUSING in an area of TROPICAL AFRICA.

The jury unanimously decided to highlight the proposal presented by SSS “for the response it brings to an urban reality of large African cities. It proposes a very simple typology, by the configuration in parallel bands that brings, through the galleries, a wide spatial, functional and climatic wealth. In turn, it allows versatility through the variation of the building type”.

The Republic of Ghana is one of the most prosperous and stable countries in West Africa. In 2011 it was the country that grew the most in the world after Qatar. This year, its economy grows to 6% and forecasts for 2018 are 6.2% according to the IMF. In the last five years, the country’s population has grown by 2.6 million people, and will continue to grow at a dizzying rate of 3%, the same growth rate as its urban population, which is 50% of the total. For these reasons we look at Ghana, a country where freedom, progress and democracy are breathed, and there is oil. BUT ALSO BECAUSE THERE ARE 2 MILLION INFRASTRUCTURES OR 30% OF THEIR POPULATION LIVES UNDER THE THRESHOLD OF POVERTY, among others.
Migration from the countryside to the city in the Accra Region (The Greater Accra), has been and is being massive. Soon, this mega city will contain 20% of the country’s population: 4 million people. And the destination of the migrated are the extensive settlements of the periphery or informal coastal neighborhoods like James Town or compact neighborhoods in the center of the city like Nima. The Greater Accra is a model of a young African megalopolis that needs new approaches to urban densification and new large-scale social housing policies. This is why we are in the city of Accra.
Nima Neighborhood
One of the most populous neighborhoods in Accra is Nima. It is a place of inhabitants migrated from the countryside, of high density, high-density, very low and very compact, where about 30,000 people live in just 1 km2. It is a very vital but poor place and affected by chronic urban degradation. The urban regeneration of this area is our starting point and the ultimate goal of our proposal in this contest.

The urban project we propose requires public investment and private initiative, something similar to the phenomenon of “gentrification” in Anglo-Saxon countries, or the “machizukuri” planning figure in the Far East countries, or “urban acupuncture” in Latin America. All of them are strategies of urban regeneration of consolidated and deteriorated neighborhoods in the big cities, rich and poor, on the one hand based on creating new public spaces to oxygenate and decongest the urban fabric, and on the other, increase the density of buildings in certain well connected areas.
The urban regeneration in the Nima neighborhood consist of two large operations: opening small public spaces connected to one another by expropriating certain areas of the fabric and densifying the edges of the main artery of the neighborhood (Nima Road) providing a large percentage of the land to social housing or rehousing, which is fundamentally the subject of this contest.
Architectural strategy
The densification at the edges of the commercial corridor Nima Road will build a more urban and profitable city. It is about taking advantage of the natural vitality of this artery that crosses the neighborhood from end to end and multiply its intensity, and in this way create more space and better connected inside the African city.
The architecture of social housing must be modular and flexible. If it is, it will accommodate the masses and build a spatial identity of its own over time. For this we propose a modular skeleton (Stands) based on walls and concrete slabs assembled with aluminum formwork of the STRONG FORM AND / OR ALUMED system, and a set of adaptable light elements (Skins) that will condition the modular space depending on the Orientation of the building, its urban position and the needs of the real estate market. Modular supports and flexible skins are the two elements that build our project.
The tropical climate forces the air currents to cross the spaces to increase the thermal comfort. High temperatures and relative humidity are combated with shaded spaces, lattices and solar protections and cross ventilation. The dwelling in the tropics should be a space between the exterior and the interior, a space in shaded and airy where to spend the torrid and endless tropical summers and covered with the rainfall of the monsoon.
